One stage pulse compression at 1554 nm through highly anomalous dispersive photonic crystal fiber.
We demonstrate the pulse compression at 1554 nm using one stage of highly anomalous dispersive photonic crystal fibers with a dispersion value of 600 ps/nm∙km. A 1.64 ps pulse is compressed down to 0.357 ps with a compression factor of 4.6, which agrees reasonably well with the simulation value of 6.1. The compressor is better suited for high energy ultra-short pulse compression than convention...
متن کاملHighly dispersive photonic crystal fiber for beamforming
In this paper, a highly dispersive pure silica photonic crystal fiber is designed and fabricated with maximum chromatic dispersion value of about -600 ps/(nm·km) around 1.55 μm wavelength region. This kind of a photonic crystal fiber structure is suitable for high dispersion application in photonic crystal fiber array based phased array antenna systems. A four-element true-time delay module is ...
متن کاملHighly Nonlinear Dual Core Photonic Crystal Fiber with Low Confinement Loss at 1.55μm Wavelength
A novel design of Dual-Core Photonic Crystal Fiber (DC-PCF) with silica-air microstructures is proposed in this paper. Nonlinearity and confinement loss of DC-PCF are evaluated by using a Full-Vectorial Finite Element Method (FV-FEM) successfully. By optimizing the geometry of three ring DC-PCFs, a high nonlinearity (52w-1km-1) and low confinement loss (0.001dB/km) can be achieved at 1.55μm wav...
متن کاملUltrashort pulse compression and delivery in a hollow-core photonic crystal fiber at 540 nm wavelength.
We have fabricated a bandgap-guiding hollow-core photonic crystal fiber (PCF) capable of transmitting and compressing ultrashort pulses in the green spectral region around 532 nm. When propagating subpicosecond pulses through 1 m of this fiber, we have observed soliton-effect temporal compression by up to a factor of 3 to around 100 fs. This reduces the wavelength at which soliton effects have ...

Niels Asger Mortensen MIC – Department of Micro and Nanotechnology, NanoDTU, Technical University of Denmark, bld. 345 east, DK-2800 Kongens Lyngby, Denmark∗ In a recent paper, Subbaraman et al. report a theoretical and numerical study of highly dispersive pure silica photonic crystal fiber supporting group-velocity dispersion exceeding −2 × 10 ps/nm/km. This comment argues that the authors onl...
